This 4 x 6 flipbook is based on
Chuck Close's 2000 self-portrait. As you flip through the pages you begin with
little circular shapes (as shown on the cover), and zoom out to the full image
of the artist that the shapes make-up. Or start from the back and watch it zoom
in to the little shapes!
In 1988, at the age of 49, Chuck
Close was at the height of his career as a portrait painter when he was stricken
with a spinal blood clot that left him a quadriplegic. With his limited
mobility, he began making little two-inch paintings in his lap which would
eventually be combined into a larger image. By finding a new way to continue
his art he developed a new style that is wonderfully illustrated by this
color flipbook, glossy, 4" X 6"
